Story
I play music for the many times it saved my life. People ask me what genre I am and I don’t really know how to answer that. I like to play things that reflect what I love, and I love a lot of stuff.
I passionately love Mary Margaret O’hara, Aerosmith (pre 1980, ok, Pump too), Cocteau Twins, and everything Pharaoh Sanders ever did with Leon Thomas. I grew up on the Velvet Underground, Joni Mitchell, Michael Jackson and Debussy. My mom grew up listening to Yma Sumac, and I grew up listening to her singing like that. So I’ve also been heavily influenced by people who try to sing like Yma Sumac.
I love painting and I love poetry and I love people who make things that bleed right outta their hearts and guts and spirits. I love green and I love solitude and I love parties and I love people who try to make the world better even when they know they can put everything they’ve got into it and it might not change very much.
I also love the people I have had the privilege of playing music with, all of em. I’d like to particularly thank Richard Parry and Marcus Paquin whose collaboration made my first record, The Golden Record, possible.
That record came out in April of 2011. We worked really hard on it, and I’m really proud of it. I’m currently working on my second record, tentatively entitled “Children Lie and Steal”. But that might change.
Thanks to everyone who has ever come out to see me play.
When I am not just a flailing solo act, Little Scream the band includes some combination of the following: Marcus Paquin, Adam Luksetisch, Jess Robertson, Richard Parry, Ari Swan, Kaveh Nabatian, and Jamie Thompson.
